SSVF - Supportive Service for Veteran Families Program

The West Virginia Community Action Partnerships, Inc. (WVCAP) will operate the Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) Program statewide in West Virginia within VISNs 4, 5, 6 and 9 and the following CoCs: WV-500 Wheeling/Weirton Area; WV-501 Huntington/Cabell, Wayne Counties: WV-503 Charleston/Kanawha, Putnam, Boone, Clay Counties and WV-508 West Virginia Balance of State. WVCAP will utilize Community Action Agencies (CAAs) as subcontractors to provide SSVS services within nine specified regions across the state.

WVCAP will serve as the lead agency and point of contact with the SSVF Regional Coordinator and the Department of Veterans Affairs. The nine CAAs will provide supportive services via a housing firs approach to very low-income Veteran families in or transitioning to permanent housing Services will consist of outreach, case management, assistance in obtaining VA or other public benefits available in the area, which will include health care services, daily living services, personal financial planning services, transportation services, income support services, fiduciary and representative payee services, legal services, child care, and housing counseling services. In addition, the CAAs may also provide time-limited payments to third parties (e.g., landlords, utility companies, moving companies, and licensed child care providers) if these payments help Veterans' families stay in or acquire permanent housing on a sustainable basis.
